You know it, I was happy to move here (for many reasons but in particular) because I knew I could implement a chat module.
To recapitulate, the chat module allows to:
1. schedule meetings for quick consensus-oriented discussions. 2. ask questions before discussing more in depth. A lot of time and ideas are lost because we don't frame discussions appropriately. 2. b. Sometimes we just need to ask a few questions or make a few points clear before starting something. 3. put some more life.
YES, chat involves ephemeral stuff. BUT this is a way to create more permanent stuff.
This module is located at the very end of the list of "Resources" in the menu, under "Live". I consider that it's not too invasive, it should not bother those who dislike the concept... I hope.
For those who like it, i suggest that you open this page on the side, in a new window or tab while on PI, so that it will ring when another PIster wants to talk.

If it is frequently used, the module could go somewhere on the Noticeboard (at the top, probably), because it serves the same purpose.
ReplyDeleteI think it's a great idea, Perig. Just not sure how it fits with my working style! But I'm sure it might attract and 'inspire' some others.
